Fantasy is a genre in literature and cinema that is gaining more and more fans
every year; and allusions are a stylistic figure that is still used by many in colloquial and written
speech.
The transformation and rethinking of the works of great writers has become far
from a new technique in writing books in our time. The use of well-known plots is one of the
favorite tricks of writers of all time. How does Terry Pratchet use this technique when creating
his works?
Project theme: Shakespearean allusions in the work of Terry Pratchet.
Purpose of the work: Analysis of the allusion to Shakespeare's «A Midsummer
Night's Dream» in Terry Pratchett's novel «Ladies and Gentlemen».
Project objectives:
• Familiarize yourself with such a direction in modern literature as fantasy.
• To study information about the literary device "allusion".
• Meet writer Terry Pratchett and his Discworld book series.
• Analyze the use of allusions in Pratchett's book "Ladies and Gentlemen"
In the course of the project, I gained a lot of new knowledge about the “allusion”
technique, about the famous English writer T Pratchet, which I can share with others. I gained
experience in the analysis of a literary work, which will be useful to me in my further studies at
the university. I have created an educational presentation that can be used in English lessons.
The practical significance of our research lies in the fact that it can be used by
schoolchildren to improve their educational level. You can conduct an integrated lesson of
English and Literature.
